Superfoods - packed with nutrients!
The vitamin and mineral content of the average diet has unfortunately declined in recent years. Many people
simply do not have enough time to buy and prepare healthy and well-balanced meals and so depend on frozen
and processed foods. Such foods do not tend to supply us with the wholesome diet our bodies crave.
Lately, there has been much publicity in the media about so-called “superfoods”, which have been highlighted
by nutritionists and scientists. You may therefore be wondering what superfoods are and how you too might

What are superfoods?
There are certain foods and herbs in nature that are nutritionally superior to others. They are nutrient-rich,
contain natural compounds missing from the vast majority of other foods and are believed to have potential
disease-fighting and health promoting / healing properties.
Consequently, superfoods are essential foods with a high nutrient-density per calorie ratio, which are
filled with vitamins, minerals, fibre, antioxidants and other key nutrients and are widely thought to be
beneficial for your health.
They are seen in all food groups and range from the mundane (like spinach), to the exotic (like acai berries).
Potential benefits of superfoods
Integrating superfoods into your eating plan (for example by juicing or by using a high quality superfood

Superfoods are dense in antioxidants, anthocyanins, Vitamin C, manganese and dietary fibre.
In other words, superfoods have come to be granted the “super” label because they have been associated with
an improvement in overall health, have the potential to support the immune system, cleanse the body and
facilitate a general sense of well-being, focus and energy.
